Light

Personal project

Light has always fascinated me. It shapes the mood, the feeling and the story. As a 3D & VFX artist, I work with light, colour and composition every day to bring designs to life. For the photos on my website, I wanted to do that myself as well.

From iPhone to studio lighting

I started out very simply and, above all, full of enthusiasm. My iPhone stood on a tripod, held in place with a bit of duct tape. With my laptop as a remote and Philips lamps as my light source, I experimented with the angle of the light and the shadows. Great fun to play with, but I soon noticed that I wanted more.

I was especially drawn to Rembrandt lighting: the small triangle of light on the cheek, created by the shadow of the nose. It instantly gives a portrait depth and character.

So I bought softboxes and a Nikon DSLR, so I could really play with studio light. You can see that in this series: photos in which light plays the leading role.

Light in my work

For me, light is more than technique. It sets the mood, strengthens the composition and lets materials speak. With light, colour and composition I tell stories, whether it’s interiors, exteriors, animations or portraits.

Let’s create beautiful 3D visualisations together. And if you love coffee as much as I do, let’s share one right away!
