Modern Waterfront Residence

Personal project · 3ds Max and V-Ray

The Modern Waterfront Residence is a personal portfolio project. I wanted the freedom to design and create a high-end architectural image in which atmosphere and light play the leading role, without the constraints of a client brief.

Cool outside, warm inside

Above all, I wanted to show the contrast between the cool blue evening sky and the warm light inside, and how to combine that with a large expanse of water to create a beautiful reflection. That’s what E-Line Vision is all about: clean, modern architecture brought to life by the right light.

From wireframe to render

First, I built the clean 3D model of the residence in 3ds Max, with its large glass façades. Then I built the landscape and the water around it. I lit and rendered everything in V-Ray.

The biggest challenge

Balancing the light. The warm interior has to glow outwards beautifully without becoming too bright against the deep twilight sky. And the reflection in the water has to be optically correct.
